C.S. Lewis' death remembered by step-son Douglas Gresham

Hours before John F. Kennedy's death, the Narnia author, C.S. Lewis died and that was just a week before his 65th birthday. Douglas Gresham, remembers the death of his step-father, C.S. Lewis: according to  Independent.co.uk  , "It was a cruel blow," he says. "Most of us regarded him as a great hope for Western civilisation. But it was only the first blow of the day. Soon any thoughts about Kennedy would go completely out of my mind." A little over an hour later, Gresham was doing homework inside a classroom away from the main school building when an unusual sound alarmed him – the urgent steps of high heels coming down the path outside. "I have no idea why, but I knew immediately it was for me," he says. "Pam, the headmaster's daughter, had come to fetch me. My stepfather had died." "Why Narnia Still Matters Today" from Time.com Last November 22, 2013, C.S. Lewis reached his 50th death anniversary along with John F. Kennedy and Aldous Huxley. Time.com posted about "Why Narnia Still Matters Today" and here's some excerpt: "I first read  The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe — the first installment in Lewis’ seven-part Chronicles of Narnia —  when I was eight, and its effect on me was profound. That was the book that taught me what novels were: how they worked and what they were for, namely to whirl you out of this world in a storm of words and take you somewhere gloriously vivid and interesting, where, through some mysterious Deeper Magic, you learned something important about the world you’d just left. It is, apart from everything else, an allegory of reading itself: the wardrobe’s doors open like the cover of a book, allowing Lucy to disappear inside, like a reader into a novel, or at least a good one, which  The Lion, t

C.S. Lewis: 50 years of a living legacy

Today, November 22, 2013 is the day that C.S. Lewis  reaches his 50th death anniversary. This is the exact day when the former US president John F. Kennedy was assassinated. 50 years it's been but not like the other past authors, C.S. Lewis is still famous today (alongside with his friend J.R.R. Tolkien) and his legacy lives on. One of the main reasons of Lewis still being popular and known today in our generation is because of his most famous work, The Chronicles of Narnia which have been adapted to theater plays, audio-books, tv series and even in films. Narnia is also considered as one of the best books written for children of all time and a children's classic preferably The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but as you read the Chronicles, you will also realize that there is more adventure and message than you ever thought when your parents used to read it to you. I would also like to add two more of his famous works, Mere Christianity and the Screwtape Letters. Not to me
