William
Moseley/Peter Pevensie
“The
Royals” star William Moseley has
joined Shirley MacLaine and
Poppy Drayton in MVP Studios’ live-action family adventure “A Little Mermaid,” inspired by the Hans Christian
Andersen fairy tale.

Production
recently launched in Georgia. MVP Studios announced “A Little
Mermaid” with MacLaine
and Drayton starring on Feb. 23.
Moseley is portraying a reporter, who travels with his
younger sister (Peralta) to a small Southern town where they discover an
enchanting creature (Drayton) they believe to be the real “Little Mermaid.”
MacLaine portrays an eccentric woman who has intimate knowledge of the story.
MVP
Studios was founded by Molloy, grandson of the late New York Yankees owner
George Steinbrenner, and Gutierrez (“Walt Before Mickey”) with a focus on
producing and distributing family films.
Andersen’s
story, first published in 1837, centers on a young mermaid willing to give up
her life in the sea to gain a human soul after she falls in love with a
handsome prince. Disney’s animated “The Little Mermaid” was released in 1989
and grossed over $200 million worldwide.

Described
as "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the
future of sin,"[4] the
series tells the story of a futuristic theme park called Westworld.
According
to variety.com/,
Will Poulter, Ben O’Toole, and Jack
Reynor have joined the
ensemble for Kathryn Bigelow’s
upcoming film about the 1967 Detroit Riots.
Bigelow
is directing with Mark Boal penning the script. John Boyega
recently joined the ensemble as
well.
Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures
is financing with Bigelow and Boal producing along with Ellison, Matthew
Budman, and Colin Wilson. Greg Shapiro will executive produce.
The crime
drama is set against the backdrop of Detroit’s devastating riots that took
place over five haunting summer days in 1967. Although no studio is yet
attached, producers are targeting a release in 2017, the 50th anniversary of
the riots.
Character descriptions are being
kept under wraps. While this is considered an ensemble piece, Poulter, O’Toole,
and Reynor are expected to have the most screen time in the movie.
After his breakout role in “We’re
the Millers,” Poulter has become more drawn to adult-driven material with
awards-season draw, recently appearing in Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The Revenant,”
as well as the upcoming Brad Pitt dark comedy “War Machine.”
Poulter also has a strong following as a member of “The Maze Runner” franchise.
We
remember that Will Poulter also starred as EustaceScrubb in The Voyage of the
Dawn Treader andhe will reprise his role as Gally in the upcoming sequel to the
Maze Runner trilogy, Death Cure set to be released on 2018.
We
heard the news that all of the cast we love won't reprise their roles in the
upcoming Narnia films however it's not that bad to still have hope for their
return. Let's just hope for the best of them all.
