The Narnia Continent is Back! News about the future of The Chronicles of Narnia Franchise

It has been months or more than a year that The Narnia Continent has been updated or live. We sincerely apologise for our sudden leave of absence but now, we will do our best to give you the latest about Narnia and beyond!

What have we missed in the last couple of months and years?

The Fourth Narnia Film and its future:

It has been six years since we had the latest visit to Narnia when the third installment was released in 3D, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." Years after the recent release, we had some news about the 4th film being The Magician's Nephew however that didn't successfully happen as C.S. Lewis' son Douglas Gresham would like to follow the original published order which makes The Silver Chair as the sequel. We also know the fact that Buena Vista films or Walt Disney already left the franchise and was saved by Fox however Walden Media was the last production company to get the rights to the Chronicles. In addition to that, Mark Gordon and company became interested in the franchise and they finally got the rights to produce the future Narnia films with Life of Pi's screen writer David Magee as the script writer (and the script is done by the way) however the future film is set to be released freely by December 2018.

So it is like 8 years of waiting however what do we already know about the future of Narnia films?

a) The fourth film is The Silver Chair: Like in the original publication order and what Douglas Gresham would like, the fourth film is officially The Silver Chair which will follow the return of Eustace Clarence Scrubb's adventures to Narnia with his schoolmate and friend Jill Pole finding and saving the long lost son of King Caspian X's son Prince Rilian and to bring peace back to Narnia with the help of Puddleglum. The story will surely be darker than Prince Caspian and the places which will be introduced are new as we are heading to the Northern lands of Narnia.

b) The fact of being a "REBOOT":  Okay. So the reboot literally means that it's all new and it will start fresh as if the first Narnia films never existed well there's when you were wrong. It is not an actual reboot as the series and the franchise will still continue however it is said that those beloved cast and crew we knew from the first three films are not set to return to reprise their roles which includes: Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan, Tilda Swinton as Jadis the White Witch, Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Anna Popplewell and William Moseley as the Pevensies, Ben Barnes as Caspian X as well as Will Poulter as Eustace Clarence Scrubb (yes we will have a new Eustace). But of course we are not so sure yet if the Pevensies and Caspian won't be back for in the books, they got older and the age of the actors will fit really well to reprise their roles in any future Narnia films. Also we will have new director, music composer and all crews.

“It’s all going to be a brand new franchise,” Gordon said. “All original. All original characters, different directors, and an entire new team that this is coming from.”

c) The Seven Chronicles: Douglas Gresham is confident and hopes to bring all Narnia stories into the big screen however the fact that there is some kind of a moratorium makes clear that completing Narnia in the big screen will take more years to be of reality. What we all know now is that "The Silver Chair" will actually happen.

So can you still wait a little longer for a new Narnia flick or would you consider the film to be totally rebooted and forget the first three Narnia films that we had?

Share us your thoughts about the future of Narnia films and let us all hope for the best of the franchise itself.

  1. As long as you capture the essence of the story and the heart of the first 3 films I belive that Silver Chair will be great.
